Yesterday, we wrote about Tata DOCOMO launching a social application for managing and sharing CRBTs and felt the need for an operator independent platform that serves the same purpose. A comment on the same post, helped us discover an online service called Fonedoo, which serves as a common platform to search and set caller ring back tunes. The service is run by mobile solutions provider U2opia Mobile, and intends to index and organize content including ringtones, CRBTs, apps, wallpapers and videos, across operators on the platform. It currently has a database of 600,000 CRBTs. At the moment it supports Airtel, Tata Indicom, Tata DOCOMO and Vodafone, but not Reliance Communications. However, it does offer online activation of VAS packs for RCom.
